Video and Presentation Like the other Pixar films to come to Blu-ray, this HD version of Monster's Inc. may not top everyone's list of their favorite Pixar films, but it really is an endearing and emotional tale, with innovative character designs and a great step forward in the history of computer animation. The film is also surprisingly relevant, given the themes of energy scarcity and corporate malfeasance. There are also lots of winking references in the script, like the name of the restaurant where Mike takes his girlfriend (voiced by Jennifer Tilly) for her birthday – Harryhausen's. All of the characters are recognizable and relatable, though perhaps not as fully rounded as they could be.
